Your heart works 24 hours a day,
are you looking after it?

Maintaining heart health is a key to our continued lives and should be our prime concern

This is a large muscle, about the size of a fist, inside the chest. Its job is to pump the blood around the body. With the average adult body containing approximately 2 gallons of blood, and, it taking about 60 seconds for each complete cycle, it stands to reason that this unseen muscle must be in good health and repair for it to be able to function the 24 hours a day, seven days a week as it does.

If, through our neglect we permit, our blood circulation system to become damaged, or, diseased we will only shorten our own lives and reduce the quality of life that we do have.

Example, fat builds up within and on the walls of the veins of our blood system, a very small piece of this fat works itself loose and travels via the various blood pathways to the entry valves of this marvellous muscle where it become stuck and blocks, if not fully then, partly the amount of blood entering the body’s pump system. This muscle, like all the other organs, needs this blood to circulate; any restriction in the flow rate can cause parts of the heart to die.

If part of the cardiovascular system starts to die then it will not be able to deliver the blood in adequate amounts to the rest of the body, which will then show symptoms and not function as nature intended.

This situation could most likely cause an attack on the cardiovascular system. Which in its mildest form will give the person a very sharp scare, or, in it’s most serious type cause death. Often people survive these first attacks but have a much reduced physical ability and lifestyle.

So, keeping the blood circulation system and all its’ associated vessels in good working order should be a prime requirement of us all. By exercising correctly and eating a balance nutritional diet we can largely avoid these debilitating attacks.

Medical science has learnt to identify many of the danger signals that indicate the levels of the risk factors that can lead to cardiovascular disease. Some of these factors cannot be avoided, while many can be.

The risk factors that cannot be avoided include: -

  • age,
  • family health history,
  • race,
  • gender,
  • pre-existing coronary heart diseases, including prior heart attacks.

While these cannot be avoided, their effect can be reduced.

The risk factors that can be avoided include: -

  • Smoking,
  • High blood pressure,
  • High cholesterol,
  • Obesity and over weight ,
  • Diabetes,
  • Physical inactivity ,
  • Lifestyle stress.

The more risk factor present the more they tend to compound their affect.

You may have only one reason for worrying about heart health, or you may have many. If you recognise one or more of these factors consult a doctor as soon as possible.

Remember, this disease is the No.1 killer in much of the western world, and, it can be bought to justice if we take the correct action.

While there are many treatments available today, nothing can beat avoiding heart disease completely. Maintaining a balanced diet with good cellular nutrition, plus, a moderate amount of exercise has been found the best and simplest way to protect yourself.

Some of the best fuel that we can provide this organ is, like our body, cellular nutrition to which we must add the important benefit of the Omega-3 fatty acids, and some good antioxidant, which are missing in many diets.
